Tower Bridge

Mistaken Identity

Tower Bridge, in London, is not the famous London Bridge.  It was completed in 1894 at a cost of £1,184,000 (£118 million – 2014), taking 432 construction workers just 8 years. The bridge spans the Thames River and is 1,000 feet long, with an average of 40,000 passengers crossing daily.  It’s 2 bascules are raised approximately 1,000 times per year with no charge for vessels passing under. Arrival of Oculus

The World Trade Center Transportation Hub prepares for the arrival of ‘Oculus’ and its grand opening. The catching design and size reminds one of a Stegosaurus watching over the entrance.  Originally transparent glass panels were to be included between the ribs and wings, however with cost and schedule issues – this new design was approved.
